FORUMS MOVED

Howdy all,
I've moved these forums to a Google Group (because keeping mvnForum up to date and dealing with spammers has been too much of a pain in the neck). Head on over to:

http://groups.google.com/group/game-gardens

to join the Google Group! I'll keep these forums around (with everything locked) for archive purposes.

Thanks!

Difficulty building from SVN

Hi there, I'm trying to build the Game Gardens source from the svn repo. I initially had some trouble building samskivert and depot due to a missing google-collect.jar, which I fixed by copying gardens/lib/*.jar into projects/{samskivert,depot}/dist/lib . I'm not convinced that was the correct solution, but it at least advanced me through the build a bit. Now I'm running into what appears to ...

which entity is responsible to create the DObject?

I downloaded the three core frameworks Narya, Nenya, Vilya and I'm reading the overview.html included in the Narya presents package, in the "creating an object" section I found something reads below
Generally, some entity on the server will choose to create a new instance of a distributed object. Rather than simply instantiate the object directly, one must create the object ...

what does the bureau do?

Can someone tell me what does the bureau package do? The bureau package is included in the Narya framework. I saw a lot of introdutions and discussions about the other two packages namely presents and crowd but I never saw any about the other one bureau.

From the source, I can only notice the bureau is kind of service and has something to do with 'agent' stuffs but I just can't figure it out ...

It's clear that Three Rings doesn't want this around, given that Ceph apparently forum-banned me in response to my post here offering to restore original drinking on YPP.

Forgive me for offering to contribute to your community. It shan't happen again.

Sequential AI

I implemented an AI for my game by placing a call in TurnGameManager's turnDidStart function. The problem is that it doesn't update the Dobj for the turn that just finished until the AI is finished making its move, so if I try to include any sort of animation of piece movement, it looks like the turns happen simultaneously. How would I go about making them happen sequentially? Is there a ...

Holy crap I actually like Knight Fight

This is remarkable because I am the person who wrote it. I thought I would come back and play it and think it was cute but stupid and feel a little badly about the time I spent writing it. Instead I enjoyed it! It is still very stupid in some ways, mind you, but I had fun playing it!

Picking the wrong Java

Another problem I had when I tried to actually play my game is that I couldn't enter the game from the lobby, similar to what the Haddock and BNav people were complaining about in past threads. The other person always could get in, though, so I figured it was likely a problem on my end. With the help of some very patient friends and some mostly-random tweaking, I figured out that the problem ...

Messages

So, I got my game in a playable state and uploaded it to http://www.gamegardens.com/gardens/view_game.wm?gameid=134. If you actually try to start the game from Game Gardens, though, the messages in the lobby are all m.something. Everything shows up as expected (the messages are those from the properties file) from the test runs on my own machine, and the final jar file seems to be in order, as ...

Acrophobia rooms...and more

It would really be nice for a couple of changes to be made to acrophobia rooms.

1. Instead of a number, post the creators name on the table.
2. Make games start with a start button that only the creator of the table can press.(Helps with large numbers of people)
3. Expand the letter boxes so all can be seen. The first letter of the 7 letter acro is cut in half.

Thanks, and great job on ...

Missing "viewtest" in game-incl.xml

I was running through the Reversi tutorial and got stopped cold when it came time to run "ant viewtest" - it informed me that 'Target "viewtest" does not exist in the project "reversi".' Hunting around, I figured out that the ant commands were directed at game-incl.xml, which seems to be lacking a "viewtest" of any sort. I had downloaded game-gardens.zip ...
